It is with great sadness to announce that Stas Bulanda, leader of the Old School Revue and former leader of the Average Polka Band and Dyno Chicago, passed away this morning after suffering a heart attack. He was 57 years old.
Stas had played with a number of bands thru the years, including the Dial-A-Tones, Gennie O & The Windy City Brass, & Lil’ Richard before starting his own band in the early 1990’s. Stas was also a co-founder of Chet Kowalkowski’s Polish Carolers in the early 1970’s. He was inducted into the IPA Hall-Of-Fame in 2009.
Visitation will be on Sunday, January 10th from 2-9pm CST at the Ridge Funeral Home, 6620 W. Archer Ave in Chicago, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, January 11th at 10:00am CST at St. Daniel the Prophet Church, Corner of 54th Street and Nashville Ave in Chicago, IL.
