Help Preserve Polkas on WMUA – Sign Our Petition

wmua logo**** IMPORTANT ***
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST AND ACT NOW
WE NEED YOUR HELP

Ladies and Gentleman, this is a tragedy in the making.

WMUA Station Programming will be dropping polkas from 12 hours on the weekends to only 4 hours on Sunday effective Sunday, January 24th.

After 36 years of being on the air and the Polish community raising near half a million dollars over the years to keep polkas alive, this is a major kick in the pants. Now is the time we need you ALL to act. If you want to see polkas restored to the full 12 hours, help us right now.

Please click on this link and sign this petition which will be sent to the University Administration.

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/keep-polkas-alive-on-wmua

Please also take a moment to write, call, send a letter to the following University Administration demanding they return polkas on both Saturday and Sunday to their full 12 hours and please forward a copy of your email or letter to Todd (tz@polkajammernetwork.org) as he is compiling a packet to be presented on behalf of the WMUA Polka DJs to the University administration.

You’re killing the best money maker you ever had. No other program can match what
The Polkas have done for your station.
You are also killing the hand that feeds you, without the Polka programs, you
Will lose???? Of listeners and sponsors to satisfy a few instigators. I for
One will completely shut off WMUA for all programs, including the sports on the
    Air and in person.
Do you realize the publicity the Polka programs have generated for WMUA and the
Students and future students attending the school. Without the most favorite
Radio program at the school, think twice before you do any cuts.

DO HOPE YOU RECONSIDER YOUR DESCISION TO CUT.

I requestfully submit Polka Music programs on WMUA remain as as they have been for 36 years. What will replace the listeners and promotion dollars that the Polka Programs strive in their endeavor ? I have known and associated with these Ij;s for many years, Me being a donor to WMUA as well.

Please think of your planned action how it will impact the people who support your efforts in the community who really enjoy the polka music on the net.

UMass administrators have failed to see the bigger picture of how popular the polka programs are within the 50 mile radius of the radio station. The reach of WMUA extends from southern VT to northern CT, and eastern NY to beyond Worcester County in MA. Whether I visit friends in local nursing homes, drop off letters to the Post Office, or visit the local Transfer Station, it is heartening to hear polka music playing. Happy music makes happy people !!

In addition to the Chancellor’s Office, The UMass President AND the Board of Trustees need to hear about this mistake the radio station manager has made. It really is a bad business decision, and diminishes public service.
no credence to a public service
